Having a Volkswagen is similar to the bond you share with Fido. Ok, maybe not JUST like that, but your VW is always there for you as you embark on a new adventure, like your favorite furry companion. You go and see things together, experience new places and make memories along the way. Our VW’s become more than just a car to us, they become a part of our life and our families. We mold them to fit our lifestyles and we customize them to make them our own. Though, you probably won’t understand the connection between a person and their VW unless you have had the privilege to own one yourself. Here are 10 times VW’s were more than just cars to us:

1. It’s easy to develop an appreciation for VW’s at a young age. Myself, I’ve been counting VW bugs in my sleep for as long as I can remember. Not really sure why, but this might be a clue…

2. Food trucks are all the rage, aren’t they? For some reason, food is just better when it comes out of a souped up vehicle. (Test: Can you spot a pun when you see one? Can ya?!) If you’re anything like the person who owns this VW, your car certainly means more to you than mere transportation, it’s an outlet to pursue your passion and make a living for yourself.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Volkswagens are more than just a car, they are a fashion statement and way of identification. I mean, how many different colored, customized Volkswagen whips have you seen out there? A TON. 5. Ok, listen. Clearly Volkswagens are near and dear to your heart if you’ve got a freakin’ VW toaster. No judgement. Personally, I have the waffle maker, mini fridge, microwave, and plate sets…If you own any sort of kitchen appliance resembling a Volkswagen, it’s become more than a car to you, it’s also a trusty cooking utensil. Community Comes Together to Dedicate Patient Rooms at Florida Hospital for Children; Including one to the David Maus Foundation

 

ORLANDO, Fla., April 17, 2013 – Florida Hospital for Children recently dedicated 19 pediatric patient rooms on the 6th and 7th floors of the hospital thanks to the generosity of donors in the Central Florida community. An event was held to celebrate the individuals that have contributed to the care of children in our community and unveil the new signage located in front of each room.

“This was a record number of rooms to be dedicated to the hospital at one time,” said Marla Silliman, administrator of Florida Hospital for Children. “We are so thankful to our donors because without them we would not be where we are today. It is the generosity of our community that allows us to be a world-class center for pediatric care.”

The dedication ceremony for the 19 general pediatric rooms was held in 7th floor family area of Florida Hospital for Children. The small reception recognized each individual family and concluded with the donors unveiling their room signage on the two nature themed patient floors. Each pediatric room is private and family centered with a dedicated medical staff located close by.

David Maus Volkswagen Employees Send Supplies to Military

As a grass-roots community effort by the David Maus VW on Lee Road employees, everyone at the dealership collected requested items for military personnel throughout the month of September. Over 15 boxes of canned food, plastic utensils, gum, beef jerky, sunflower seeds, and more were shipped via Priority Mail to five different groups in the Army, Air Force and Marines. Two of the groups are constantly in the field requesting any type of food small enough to pack in their pockets while on duty.

The five groups were found through a website called AnySoldier.com in which soldiers of all military divisions write in for themselves or their group in request for supplies but most of all a chance to talk with someone from Home. Within each box was a greeting card written with words of support and encouragement, signed by the employees.

This Month: In October the employees of David Maus Volkswagen participated in a raffle for an iPod 2 with 100% of the proceeds to benefit the Disability Wellness Center. The Disability Wellness Center (DWC) is a non-profit organization established to cater to the specialized needs of individuals in wheelchairs. 1 in 50 people are confined to a wheelchair. The DWC provides physical, emotional, and educational support. Oprah Winners Receive the 2012 VW Beetle during Tickled Pink Event

David Maus VW North will welcome the 2012 Beetle to its showroom floor, and hand over the keys to seven local Oprah Winfrey Show fans who received free 2.5L 2012 Beetles as giveaways on Winfrey’s “Ultimate Favorite Things” episode that aired November 17, 2010.

The winners will appear at David Maus Volkswagen North on Saturday, October 15th to help celebrate during the David Maus VW’s Tickled Pink Event, raising funds and awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event will be from 12p-3p. David Maus Volkswagen is also making a $50 donation per vehicle sold to the Susan G Komen Foundation.

David Maus Volkswagen School Supply Drive A Success!

Employees and customers of David Maus Volkswagen on Lee Road donated a trunk full of school supplies to Fern Creek Elementary School for students to use for the new school year. A huge thank you to everyone who participated, we appreciate your support as we do our best to make a difference in the life of a child!

Through the CARE Program, David Maus Automotive dealerships team up with local schools to help with basic needs for students. We hold book drives, school supply drives and will be scheduling group clean-ups at various schools that are in need. The CARE Program has also formed the Literacy Project in which employees go to local elementary schools and read to the students. It is part of the David Maus philosophy to give back to the local community as much as we can. Through various initiatives, such as the CARE Program and the Literacy Project, we are doing our best to make an impact on the lives of our local students.

David Maus VW Sponsors Fill the Bug for BASE Camp

David Maus Volkswagen on Lee Road is proud to sponsor BASE Camp of Central Florida by holding a collection for the families and children who utilize their organization – the Fill the Bug Campaign. A 1971 Super Beetle will be at the David Maus Volkswagen on Lee Road store until July 15th, 2011 to collect the items listed below.

BASE Camp provides a year-round base of support for children and families who are facing the challenge of living with cancer and other pediatric life-threatening hematological illnesses. BASE Camp stands for Believe – Achieve – Support – Educate, offering programs for rest, nourishment, encouragement and strength throughout the journey children and their families face. David Maus and “Meng” from David Maus Automotive Group Help Raise $60,000 for Rock Pink Breast Cancer Charity Event

David Maus and Tonga Fifita aka “Meng” helped raise money for Rock Pink as Celebrity Bowlers for the 104.1 Monsters 4th Annual Bowl-A-Rama on Saturday, June 25th – raising $60,000 for breast cancer charities. David Maus was bid on by RL Haines General Contractors and was named the #1 Celebrity Bowler for the most money raised which was over $4,000.

The event was held at Boardwalk Bowl on Colonial Drive by UCF. Every one of the 80 lanes were filled with teams and Celebrity Bowlers, enjoying the four hour event with taste testings, raffles, silent auctions and more! The David Maus Automotive dealerships have continuously supported local and national organizations dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, mammography testing and treatment. For the past three years David Maus Volkswagen has been a sponsor of the Libby’s Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation Scooters for Hooters event, held each April. In October all employees wear pink every Friday to raise money for the American Breast Cancer Foundation and the Susan G Komen Foundation.

David Maus and WWE Wrestler “Meng” Celebrity Bowlers at Charity Event

David Maus and Tonga Fifita, aka “Meng” WWE Wrestler, will be Celebrity Bowlers for the 4th Annual Monster Bowl-A-Rama to benefit Rock Pink, an organization whose mission is to raise breast health awareness and support local breast cancer programs. The event will be held on Saturday, June 25th at 11a at the Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando.

The event encourages participants to bid on a Celebrity Bowler they would like to bowl with at the event. Both David Maus and “Meng” will be open for bidding as a Celebrity Player for the highest bidder. David Maus VW Employees Read to Children

Employees from the David Maus Automotive Group Literacy Project volunteered their time to read books to children attending Kids Together Childcare this past Tuesday. Ten people read books to groups of children ages 2 through Pre-K for an hour and then donated 50 Winnie the Pooh books.

The Literacy Project was formed in 2010 as an outreach program for employees with the David Maus Automotive Group to become involved in helping schools by reaching out to students through reading and fundraising. Fundraisers have been held at all four David Maus dealerships, such as book drives and raising money for Library posters.

The Literacy Project is under the CARE Program which is an acronym that stands for Courageous and Respected Employees. The Purpose of this program is to reach out to organizations that have a direct impact on the lives of kids and offer employees VIP benefits within our service and sales departments; family pricing on all vehicles, discounts on servicing your vehicles, and many more perks.

Kids Together Childcare in Oviedo is a nurturing, safe and supportive childcare program designed to provide a wide range of enriching and recreational activities in order that every child discovers a joy in learning and develops a positive self esteem.
